The washing of the nuts is a decisive step for the further processing of high-quality nuts. By washing the outer nut shell, adhering loose fibres or threads, slime and other organic material are removed from the nut shell. This prevents the growth of any micro-organisms. This means that a high quality of nuts can be guaranteed.

An additional step before the washing is the separation of stones and the removal of raw shells from the nuts. At the beginning of the harvest season, the fresh walnuts are mostly harvested with their raw shells. In order to attain an optimal washing result, the raw shell should be carefully removed from the walnut.

Washing and cleaning walnuts.

After the harvesting, the collected nuts should be cleaned of small branches, earth, leaves, and raw shells.

The washing machine for nuts is equipped with a rotary drum including stable steel bars. By using water jets in the rotary drum, an efficient cleaning is achieved. We offer various models and sizes according to the extent of the walnut harvest.

Washing and calibration machine

The machine cleans, calibrates, and separates walnuts.

The washing and calibration machine cleans and calibrates the nuts according to their size. Up to 95% of the raw shells are separated from the nuts. A washing drum (oval pattern) is used for cleaning. The roller / drum is then exchanged with a round hole sieve for calibrating the nuts.

The machine can be calibrated to two different sizes. It is driven by a standard drill. An optional feeding of the nuts or electric motor with 230V is also available.

Walnut washing machine and raw shell remover

Washing nuts and removing shells with a single machine.

The walnuts are rotated freely in the rotary drum. The bars of the rotary drum are provided with small brushes and abrasive steel particles (humps) in order to remove the raw shells from the nuts.

During the peeling operation a low-pressure water stream in the interior of the drum ensures gentle cleaning. The results are clean, high-quality nuts.

Raw shell remover “Laveuse de Noix”

Separating raw shells from the nuts.

At the beginning of the harvest season, the fresh walnuts are harvested with their raw shells. This machine can easily remove up to 99% raw shells without damaging the walnuts. The surfaces of the drum and the base are rough. Thanks to a drive motor, the base rotates in a circle. This removes shells and rinses with water.

Stone separator

Removing stones and dirt from the nuts.

The stone separator is used after the harvesting, pre-washing, or washing. The stone separator is a multi-functional unit: It separates walnuts from stones, hazelnuts from stones and separates good chestnuts from bad ones. The nuts pass through a flotation tank.

This also minimises the influence of dirt on the rest of the production process. As the water level is constant, you work under the same conditions from start to finish of the dividing.
